New research from NatWest and IHS Markit has revealed that over half of UK homeowners have plans for green home improvements over the next decade.
According to the survey, more than a quarter of homeowners anticipate making changes within the next one to five years, with a further 16% planning on carrying out improvements in 6 to 10 years’ time.
The survey also found that:
Environmental Impact: Homes have a significant impact on the environment, consuming large amounts of energy and resources and generating waste and greenhouse gas emissions. By adopting sustainable practices, such as using renewable energy sources, reducing waste, and conserving water, homeowners can significantly reduce their environmental impact and contribute to a healthier planet.
Cost Savings: Sustainable homes can also save homeowners money in the long run by reducing heating costs. Energy-efficient appliances, lighting, and insulation can reduce energy consumption, while low-flow showerheads, faucets, and toilets can conserve water.
Health and Wellbeing: Sustainable home renovation can also promote the health and wellbeing of occupants. For example, using non-toxic building materials, improving indoor air quality, and incorporating natural light and ventilation can create a healthier living environment.
Resilience: Sustainable homes can be more resilient to natural disasters and other disruptions. By incorporating features such as solar power, rainwater harvesting, and passive heating and cooling, homeowners can reduce their dependence on external sources of energy and water.
Overall, sustainability is important in homes because it helps to create a more environmentally friendly, cost-effective, healthy, and resilient living environment for homeowners and their families.
It seems that sustainable home improvement marketing is certainly opening up, and installers shouldn’t miss out on the opportunity in 2023.
